Silchar: Police are yet to find out the circumstances under which Assam Rifles jawan Ravinder Kumar slit the throats of his wife and daughter on Saturday morning, leading to the macabre crime.
The 40-year-old accused, who hails from Jammu and Kashmir’s Aknoor, killed his wife Monika Dogra (30) and daughter Riddi Badgal (11) at the paramilitary’s force’s camp located in Srikona.
Police from Srikona outpost and Silchar Sadar police station had conducted a preliminary inquiry and had arrested the jawan. Following interrogation, Kumar was produced before a Silchar court on Saturday afternoon and was sent to judicial custody. A senior police officer on Sunday said the accused was reportedly in a state of depression. However, a concrete reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.
On Saturday morning, an AR jawan had visited Kumar’s quarters and found the bodies of Kumar’s wife and daughter lying in a pool of blood.
