Jaipur: The southwest monsoon will again bring heavy rainfall from September 8 onwards in many districts in the state. The Jaipur Met office on Sunday stated that the monsoon is not yet over as the last spell is likely to bring good rainfall in the coming days.
In Rajasthan, the monsoon starts withdrawing from September 15 onwards. The Jaipur Met office stated that Udaipur, Kota and Ajmer divisions of the state will get good monsoon showers during this week.
“The rising humidity levels will again play the role of catalyst in reviving the monsoon. Presently various districts in the state are getting a humidity varying from 70 % to 85%. Humidity levels upto 90% bring rainfall. So, it is expected that in the coming days many places will get good rainfall,” said an officer with the Jaipur Met office.
People in Jaipur woke up to a comparatively warmer morning and no rainfall took place throughout the day. It was a hot and humid afternoon with a maximum temperature of 34.3 °C, accompanied with a humidity of 89%. Despite cloudy conditions in the evening no rainfall took place in the city.
Meanwhile, a rainfall of 40 mm was recorded in Bhopalgarh (Chittorgarh) and was followed by Vallabhnagar in Udaipur where a rainfall of 20 mm was received. Also rainfall varying from 50 mm to 10 mm was received at many places in the state.
In this season, so far, an average rainfall of 599.24 mm has been received in the state, which is 24.2% higher compared to 482.54 mm recorded till September 4. “Also, none of the districts so far have received deficit rainfall as majority of the districts have either received normal or excess rainfall,” said an officer while quoting the rainfall data.
Meanwhile, dams and reservoirs in the state are also full this year so far. “Majority of the dams in the state including in Kota Barrage (Kota), Jawahar Sagar (Kota), Rana Pratap Sagar (Chittorgarh) and Bisalpur Dam (Tonk) are fully filled. In this season so far quite a few times their gates had to be opened due to overflowing of water,” said an officer.
