UTTARKASHI: A 42-year-old trekker from Kolkata, Sujoy Dule, died and one of his friends got injured when trying to climb down a glacial wall during a trekking expedition to the Khimloga Pass on the Uttarakhand-Himachal border.
On Sunday evening, a team of the second battalion of Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and
Himachal police rescued the injured trekker and three porters who were stranded at the accident site. An operation to retrieve the body will be started on Monday.
According to Shankar, a supervisor in Kinnaur district disaster management authority (DDMA), the three trekkers from Kolkata had begun their expedition from Uttarkashi's Liwadi village on September 1. They didn't take precautions and had set off with six porters from the village, he added.
