The NSE Nifty index ended the session 126.35 points up at 17665.8, while BSE Sensex rose 442.65 points to 59245.98.
In the Nifty index, .(up 3.47 per cent), .(up 3.11 per cent), ITC Ltd.(up 1.76 per cent), .(up 1.73 per cent) and NTPC Ltd.(up 1.67 per cent) stood among the top gainers.
On the other hand, .(down 1.84 per cent), .(down 1.54 per cent), .(down 1.12 per cent), .(down 0.84 per cent) and .(down 0.69 per cent) were among the top losers of the day.
