Bokaro: A day after an eight-year-old girl’s body was found in the district, hundreds of protesters gheraoed the Harla police station on Saturday, demanding to lodge a murder case.
While her post-mortem report stated that the victim drowned, her family has claimed that she was murdered as there were injury marks on the body.
Bokaro SP Chandan Kumar Jha said that instructions have been given to the Harla police station to register a case on the basis of the family members’ statement. “The post-mortem report has stated drowning as the cause of death but if the family members do not agree, police will investigate the case from all angles,” he added.
The victim was identified as Sandhya Kumari, who hailed from Badri Colony, Basanti More near Cooling Pond-2. She was student of Class 1 in Gyandeep School, Sector 9.
Her body was found in a pond nearher house.
According to her family members, Sandhya went out to play with her friends on Thursday evening and never returned home. “We suspect that she was kidnapped and murdered by an unknown person and later, her body was dumped in the pond,” a relative of the victim said.
