NEP provides integrated, flexible approach: Former Isro chairman K Kasturirangan

COIMBATORE: The new education policy (NEP) provides an integrated, yet flexible approach to society, former Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) chairman K Kasturirangan said here on Saturday. "Under the new education policy, all medical graduates should possess medical, diagnostical, surgical and emergency skills," he said, while addressing a gathering at the Annual Conclave-2022 of the Association of National Board Accredited Institutions (ANBAI), at Ganga Hospital.
"We have proposed the revision and revamping of all the aspects of the education structure and revelation in governance. This was to create a new system that is aligned with the aspirational goals of 21st century education, while remaining rooted in India's traditions and value systems," Kasturirangan added.
Vice-chancellor of Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University Sudha Seshayyan appealed students not to fall prey to peer pressure. Talking about the current healthcare system, Sudhasaid there could be newer viruses every time the growing human population encroaches into natural zones.
A panel discussion with the chairman of the department of orthopaedics, trauma and spine surgery and ANBAI president S Rajasekaran, National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences president Abhijat Sheth and executive director Minu Bajpai, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research Chairman Bhabatosh Biswas and Narayana Hrudayalaya Hospital chairman Devi Prasad Shetty was held.
