2 held for stealing cash, jewels from employer’s house

Ludhiana: Three persons who had been working as domestic help in house for almost a decade stole cash and jewellery worth lakhs. One of them was caught red-handed stealing at the house of their employer in Ayali Kalan on Friday. Police arrested the two accused, Rajesh Kumar and Rahul Kumar while their accomplice, Shiva is at large. All the three belong to Uttar Pradesh.
The complainant, Vishvas Puri, a resident of SBS Nagar said that he works in a private firm owned by Amrinder Singh of Garden Enclave, Ayali Kalan. For the past few months, he said his employer Amrinder was upset as cash and jewellery was being stolen from his house. He said he discussed the issue with him.
On Thursday, Puri said he went to Amrinder’s house, where he saw his (Amrinder’s) domestic help Rajesh stealing cash from the bedroom. He said he raised an alarm and nabbed him. Rajesh confessed and said that the other two persons working in the house, Rahul and Shiva were also involved in the theft. At this, they caught Rahul and called the police.
The investigating officer, ASI Jaspal Singh from Raghunath police post said that the accused have been working in the house for almost a decade now and the employer did not suspect their involvement when cash and valuables started going missing. The accused said they used to send the stolen gold and diamond jewellery to their family back home. He said they would try to recover the stolen articles and arrest the accused.
Sarabha Nagar police lodged an FIR under sections 381 (theft by clerk or servant) and 34 (Act done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC.
