Domestic breeding checkers and sanitary workers being briefed on anti-dengue measures in Trichy corporation office
TRICHY: Trichy corporation has instructed sanitary workers and domestic breeding checkers (DBC) to intensify dengue prevention drive after multiple cases were reported in various parts of the city last week. The workers were also warned to conduct all anti-dengue measures including fever surveys properly in every ward.
Corporation officials said that sporadic dengue cases were being reported across the five zones, with most of the sources said to be within the perimeter of the residences where cases were reported. The local body's health department has appointed a dedicated team to monitor the dengue preventive measures. Fever camps were organised in vulnerable areas on Saturday. The health workers from all 18 urban primary health centres conducted mobile camps in the areas where more cases were reported.
Officials said that the adjoining houses and flats in the case of apartments where dengue was reported in the past week were told to approach the nearest UPHC if anyone develops symptoms.
"Identification of larvae in potential dengue sources is progressing, our workers are insisting residents not to store fresh water in open vessels. Fogging drive will be gradually carried out in all wards," a health official said.
