Mangaluru: Sniffer dog laid to rest with full honours

MANGALURU: Geetha, a sniffer dog attached to the dog squad of the city police was laid to rest with full honours at the District Armed Reserve grounds on Sunday.
City police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said that the female Labrador Retriever was born on May 21, 2011, and joined the police force on August 19, the same year. She passed away on Saturday.
She was trained for 11 months in CAR, South, Bengaluru. AHC Harish was her handler and performed explosive detection duty.
She was part of the bandobast team during VVIP visits and other prominent events held in the city and ensured that the venues are free from explosive material during her 11 years of service with the department Shashi Kumar said.
