HYDERABAD: With the Centre deciding to hold celebrations of 75 years of Hyderabad's liberation, Union culture and tourism minister G Kishan Reddy has invited Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to attend the inaugural event of the year-long festivities at Parade Ground on September 17. The Centre also invited CMs of Karnataka and
Maharashtra as some areas of these two states were part of the erstwhile Hyderabad state.

Since the programmes were being planned for a year till September 17, 2023, the Union minister requested state government to identify events throughout the year and share the plans with the Centre so that a holistic approach could be taken in planning the year-long celebrations.
Kishan Reddy, who wrote a letter to KCR on Saturday, said Maharashtra and Karnataka have been commemorating September 17 as Marathwada Liberation Day and Hyderabad-Karnataka Liberation Day respectively.
