Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several Union ministers, and leaders from various parties on Sunday condoled the demise of former chairman of Tata Sons Cyrus Mistry.

"The untimely demise of Shri Cyrus Mistry is shocking. He was a promising business leader who believed in India’s economic prowess. His passing away is a big loss to the world of commerce and industry. Condolences to his family and friends. May his soul rest in peace," PM Modi tweeted.

Taking to Twitter, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Supriya Sule said, "Devastating News My Brother Cyrus Mistry passed away. Can’t believe it. Rest in Peace Cyrus."

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar said, "Extremely shocked by the news of the passing away of Cyrus Mistry. Recall our various interactions over the years. My deepest condolences to his family."

Condoling Cyrus Mistry’s demise, Union minister Nitin Gadkari said, "Deeply saddened to know about the unfortunate demise of Ex-Chairman of Tata Sons, Cyrus Mistry Ji in a road accident near Palghar, Maharashtra. Sincerest condolences to his family members. May he Rest In Peace. Om Shanti."

Union Cabinet Minister Smriti Irani also tweeted on the demise of Cyrus Mistry and said, "A gentle soul, a man with a vision and a mission; Cyrus as I will always remember him epitomised kindness. The news of his demise comes as a shock. My condolences to his family & loved ones. Om Shanti."

Union Minister of Commerce Piyush Goyal tweeted his condolences and termed him the Indian industry's "shining star".

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu said, "Deeply pained by tragic demise of Former Chairman of Tata Sons, Cyrus Mistry Ji in a road accident near Palghar, Maharashtra. My deepest condolence to his family members. May Lord Buddha provide peace to his soul. Om Shanti."

"So shocked to hear of his untimely demise. My heart goes out to his loved ones," Shashi Tharoor tweeted.

Congress leader Milind Deora, in a tweet, said, "I am shocked & devastated to learn about Cyrus Mistry’s untimely passing. He was a personal friend & a kind soul.
