BHUBANESWAR: After successfully hosting investors’ meets in Ahmedabad and New Delhi last month, the state government is geared up for another outreach programme in Mumbai on September 14.
Though the detailed programme and names of participants are yet to be finalized, official sources said the government would focus more on bringing investments in financial sector during the Mumbai meet. It is yet to be decided whether chief minister Naveen Patnaik would attend the investors’ meet in Mumbai.
“Since Mumbai is known as the financial capital of the country, we are trying to meet more investors in financial sectors like fintech, investment and commercial banks, financial agencies and stock exchanges. Besides, we will also try to get investments in traditional sectors,” said state industries secretary Hemant Sharma.
Sources said the focus during the Mumbai meet will also be to draw investment in areas like metals, textiles, electronics system design and manufacturing, chemicals, plastics and petrochemicals and tourism.
The state government has extended invitation to several industry bigwigs to attend the meet though their confirmation is yet to be received.
Ahead of the second edition of Make in Odisha conclave held in 2018, chief minister Naveen Patnaik had led an investment roadshow in Mumbai, which was attended by industry heavyweights like Mukesh Ambani, Anand Mahindra, Adi Godrej, Kishore Biyani and Deepak Mehta.
After Mumbai, the government will hold similar investors’ meet in two more cities, likely to be in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, the dates of which are yet to be decided. The government uses the outreach programmes to showcase its investor-friendly polices and reources.
The third edition of Make in Odisha conclave will be held in the city from November 30 to December 4.
