Traffic restrictions for Ganesha idol immersion today

Coimbatore: The city police have announced traffic diversions at several junctions from 11am to 8pm on Sunday to facilitate the processions to immerse Ganesha idols in waterbodies.
They said heavy vehicles, including trucks, wouldn’t be allowed to enter the city limits from 8am to 8pm on the day.
In a press release, police said the vehicles coming to the city from Ukkadam via Perur would be diverted through Perur bypass road-Selvapuram-Sivalaya theatre from 11am, while the ones coming from Gandhipuram and Town Hall via Vysial Street and Sullivan Street would be diverted through Ukkadam-Perur bypass road and Sivalaya theatre via Selvapuram.
Similarly, vehicles coming to the city from Ukkadam via Trichy Road should take Sungam bypass road to reach Trichy Road, while the ones from Mettupalayam and Thadagam roads would be diverted via Oppannakara Street, Raja Street and railway station.
They said the vehicles from Thadagam Road would be diverted through Venkitapuram junction, NSR Road, Mettupayalam Road and Sivanandha Colony.
Vehicles from Mettupalayam should take Ganapathy-Gandhipuram route to reach the city and the ones from Perur could reach the city through Selvapuram higher secondary school, Perur bypass road and Ukkadam, police said.
Vehicular movement would be allowed on Coimbatore north flyover after the processions are over.
Police have sought the cooperation of residents to ensure peaceful parades.
