AHMEDABAD: With state assembly elections round the corner, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (
AMC) is slated to announce three new railway overbridges for the western part of the city in the upcoming roads and building committee meeting on Monday.
The three railway overbridges will be constructed for Rs 221.54 crore, according to the agenda, a copy of which is with TOI.
One of the proposals is for the construction of a flyover connecting Makarba Corporate Road and SG Highway railway flyover at an estimated cost of Rs 80.63 crore. Then there is a flyover bridge connecting Vastrapur railway station and Butbhavani railway crossing proposed for Rs 66.76 crore. Finally, there is a Rs 74.15 crore railway flyover project between Hebatpur village on S G Highway and Science City Road.
The proposal for the three flyovers has been put forth before the committee for approval. Following their nod, the projects will be reviewed by the standing committee and then the general board of the AMC. Each of these flyovers will be constructed within 26 months.
A senior AMC official in the roads and building division explained the dimensions of the bridges. A four-lane railway overbridge will be constructed on a 30m road connecting Hebatpur village on SP Ring Road and Science City Road. The length of this flyover will be 679m and its width will be 16.8m. The second railway overbridge, which will be a three-lane railway overbridge has been proposed on the 30m road connecting Vejalpur to Anandnagar near Vastrapur railway station. The length of this flyover will be 921.28m and the width will be 11m. A four-lane railway overbridge on the 40m wide road connecting Torrent Power in Makarba to Corporate Road will be constructed over the Ahmedabad Botad railway line level crossing.
