Kanpur: Former in-charge of Mahila police station in Farrukhabad, living in Unnao’s Jurakhan Khera under Sadar Kotwali police area, her elderly mother and her daughter sustained serious wounds after allegedly being attacked with a knife by their neighbour on Saturday.
As they are in a critical condition, they have been referred from the district hospital of Unnao to Kanpur's Lala Lajpat Rai hospital.
According to family members the incident was carried out by their neighbour, who wanted to grab their land.
Police said sub-inspector Pratima Bajpai, who lived in the Jurakhan Khera near Sai Hospital, was in-charge of the women's police station in Farrukhabad, and recently she had taken leave for her operation of stones.
According to Pratima, on Saturday, her neighbour started abusing her while she was standing in front of her house. Initially, when she resisted, he left the spot. However, after some time, he returned to the spot with a knife and stabbed the SI in her stomach, shoulder, chest and hand. Hearing her shrieks, her mother Vindhyavasini and daughter rushed to save her, but the neighbour also attacked them several times with a knife leaving them critically wounded. By the time locals arrived at the spot, accused had fled the site.
The locals rushed all three to the district hospital in a critical condition. Later, all the three were referred to LLR hospital in Kanpur. SP Unnao Dinesh Tripathi said that a police team has been sent to Kanpur along with the injured persons. “Arrangements have been made for proper treatment of the injured SI and her family members. Two teams have been formed and raids are underway to make the arrest of the accused possible,” the SP added.
