MUMBAI: A 35-year-old CISF guard deployed at the Tarapur Nuclear Power Station (TAPS) in Palghar has gone missing with his service pistol and 30 live cartridges, reports Sandhya Nair. A case has been filed at Tarapur police station and a hunt has been launched for the man, Manoj Yadav.
Yadav, who was deployed at TAPS two months ago and lives in the CISF quarters in Tarapur, was to report for night shift at 9pm on Thursday. However, he came to his workplace a few hours early at 12.30pm saying he had been assigned the second shift that begins at 1pm. He collected his pistol and cartridges from the armoury and got down to work. However, when his shift ended at 9pm, he left without returning the weapon. On realising it, the armoury personnel launched a search for him. When it yielded no result, CISF officers filed a police complaint.
Yadav, who hails from UP, has been captured on Boisar station's CCTV cameras boarding a train. Police have contacted his family and relatives and are quizzing them, but say he has not got in touch with any of them so far.
