BEGUSARAI: A sanitation employee of a government middle school made an attempt to rape a Class II girl student during school hours last Saturday. However, the incident came to light only on Thursday as the headmaster of the school persuaded the victim not to disclose her ordeal to her family members. The girl's parents came to know about her agony only when asked why she had been bunking the school for three days on one pretext or the other.
The accused, Sitaram Mallick, and the school headmaster, Ramchandra Singh were arrested on Thursday after the enraged family members along with villagers stormed the school at Papraur under Begusarai Zero Mile police outpost area. When the headmaster still tried to hush up the matter, the mob thrashed him with sticks and brooms and disrupted traffic on NH-31.
Begusarai DSP (HQ) Nisith Priya on Friday said an FIR with regard to attempt to rape has been lodged. According to the girl's family members, the accused locked himself with the victim inside a toilet in an attempt to rape her. It was just a chance that a group of girls arrived there and heard a girl crying inside the toilet.
They started banging the door of the toilet. That made the accused nervous and he fled from the spot. The victim had informed the headmaster about the incident. However, the headmaster tried to hush up the case.
