CHENNAI: Congress national spokeswoman Shama Mohamed said on Saturday that the outcome of the nation-wide yatra of party leader
Rahul Gandhi would reflect in the party’s election manifesto for the 2024 polls.
“This yatra is to unite India and not to break any monument (Babri Masjid). It will have a positive and political impact,” said Mohamed while addressing reporters in Chennai.
The yatra would focus on economic distress, inflation, unemployment, polarisation of the people on religion, food habits and destabilization of the democracy by misusing central law enforcing agencies against dissents and non-BJP ruling states, she said.
Rahul Gandhi would meet and interact with people, representing various sections of society in 12 states and two Union territories, starting from Kanyakumari and going up to Kashmir, to hear their problems.
State units would also carry out similar campaigns in their respective states simultaneously to reach out to large sections of the people, she said.
The ED, CBI and other central law enforcing agencies were working against the opposition parties and their leaders. Once they join the
BJP, the agencies stop the investigation, she said.
“Suvendu Adikarai was facing a CBI investigation in 2017. After he joined the BJP in 2020, what happened to the investigation? Why are they (CBI) quiet now?”
She also criticised the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the release of the 11 convicts in Bilkis Bano gang rape and murder case.
