GUWAHATI: The prime accused in the businessman murder case in the city, who was arrested in Delhi on Sunday, was brought to Guwahati on a four-day transit remand on Friday and will be produced before a local court here on Saturday.
The accused, Radhika Raman alias Dablu Yadav, had been absconding after city-based businessman Avdesh Kumar Yadav was shot dead from a close range in front of his residence in the Chatribari area in the city on February 21. The accused had allegedly hired Baloram Kumar Paswan and Pankaj Kumar Yadav to kill the businessman.
Baloram and Pankaj were arrested in March.
"We have been continuously tracing him. He fled to Nepal border immediately after the murder. Thereafter, he kept on changing his location. We were in contact with the Bihar Police. Finally, we got his location in Delhi and netted him with the help of a special cell of Delhi Police and the special task force of the Bihar Police," ACP Prithviraj Rajkhowa said.
He added, "There was rivalry related to a land dispute between the families of the accused and the deceased. The story is like if one side killed someone from the other side, then the other side killed someone and took revenge. As per preliminary investigation, the prevailing rivalry between them has resulted in the death of Avdesh Kumar Yadav. We will pray before the court to allow us to take him in custody. More details will come out once the interrogation progresses."
The investigation team of the Assam Police had gone to Bihar twice but could not find the accused.
