Belagavi: Two government primary school teachers got into a property-related quarrel in front of students during school hours and one of them went to the police to file a complaint and cited the schoolchildren as eyewitnesses.
The parents of the schoolchildren are infuriated with the behaviour of the teachers, who also happen to be relatives. The primary school is in Ramanagar Badavane in Chikodi taluk.
The deputy director of public instruction (DDPI) has said he may suspend both teachers — RN Madiwalar and MK Jambagi.
The incident came to light when a few parents complained to the DDPI in Chikodi.
The DDPI, ML Hanchate, has showcaused the teachers.
The quarrel between Madiwalar and Jambagi happened a week ago over a land dispute between their families who are relatives.
They got into a fight during school hours in front of a class full of students.
Jambagi later went to the police and filed a complaint and cited the students as eyewitnesses.
When the parents came to know of the incident, they approached the DDPI and briefed him about the incident and demanded action against the duo.
Hanchate said: “We will not tolerate such behaviour, especially in front of students. Hence we have given them show-cause notices, asking the information on the incident soon. We will take necessary action against both teachers. If needed, we will suspend both.”
