Three from Manipur held with ganja in Nagaland

Three persons from Manipur were arrested by Nagaland Police on September 1 for transporting ganja.

Police said that around 9 pm on September 1, Nagaland Police personnel of narcotic cell mobile unit, performing routine frisking and checking of suspected vehicles at NH-2, intercepted a Dimapur-bound vehicle near Viswema Y-Junction of Kohima-Pfutsero-Imphal, which was coming from Imphal, Manipur.

According to the police, a thorough search of the vehicle resulted in recovery of 200 kg of suspected ganja which were found wrapped in black polythene.

Accordingly, three occupants of the vehicle – identified as Anion Raingam (52 years), Ng Masotmi (42 years) and Holichan Shinglai (53 years) – were arrested and the illegal contraband along with the vehicle duly seized.

All the arrested persons are from Ukhrul district, according to the police.

A case has been registered for further investigations, the police added.
