Bhubaneswar:
BJP is planning series of organisational events starting from Monday when its Odisha in-charge Sunil Bansal reaches here on a two-day visit. It will be followed by a training session of party cadres in Puri around mid-September and a public meeting to be addressed by BJP president JP Nadda towards the month-end.
BJP state president Samir Mohanty said, “There are some in-house party programmes, which are an ongoing process. We are also gearing up for Naddaji’s first visit to Odisha after he took over as party president, later this month.”
Bansal, who was appointed in-charge of Odisha besides West Bengal and Telangana in August after being elevated to national general secretary from general secretary (organization) of
Uttar Pradesh, would also visit the state for the first time.
BJP state vice-president Bhrugu Baxipatra said Bansal will meet observers and office-bearers of all 36 organisational districts of the party and hold discussions with state’s core committee members and heads of frontal organizations during his visit. “Since he has become the party’s prabhari (in-charge), he would take stock of the situation as the BJP prepares for future elections. He will also prepare ground for Nadda’s visit later this month,” Baxipatra said.
BJP sources said after Bansal’s two-day tour, the BJP’s youth, women, OBC and student wings will mobilise their cadres for continuous political activities. BJP’s hectic plan, after an almost pause on similar activities for more than three years, is aimed at preparing ground for the 2024 elections in Odisha, BJP insiders said.
Nadda will visit the state on September 29 and 30. Apart from holding in-house meetings with party leaders, Nadda is likely to hold a public meeting.
BJP general secretary (organisation) B L Santosh is likely to attend a training session of party workers in Puri. Union ministers from Odisha, MPs and MLAs would attend the meetings to brainstorm on poll strategy. The training session was originally scheduled last month. However, the BJP postponed it in view of floods in different parts of the state.
