HUBBALLI: The Adi Ranga Theatre School (ARTS) cultural complex, set by theatre personality Yashavant Sirdeshpande, will start a Dosti Club for primary and high school students in Hubballi who can meet artistes and discuss their work with them.
Sirdeshpande said ARTS had got almost 80% of its infrastructure and is looking for sponsors to develop the remaining 20%.
“Meanwhile, we are coming up with plans for engaging more people in cultural activities. We are floating Dosti Club to provide a platform for students from classes 3 to 9 to interact with celebrities every month. We will invite a celebrity from fields such as music, dance, theatre, painting etc. After their performance or presentation, they will answer questions asked by students. We will celebrate the birthdays of students born in the respective months on the occasion. It will bring like-minded students from different schools to a common platform to develop their personalities. We will also attract parents through this club which will come up by November,” he said.
“We are also floating another platform called Friends of Adi Ranga to hold theatre-related activities every month,” he said.
He claimed that the ARTS cultural complex is the first of its kind in the state where people can train themselves, read, browse digital material and perform.
“Right from the beginners’ level in art, dance, music or if one is a middle-level artist, they get an opportunity here to learn or teach here for their own and others’ improvement. We have built a building for about 30-35 guests. It can also be utilised by theatre, cultural and social organisations for their seminars and conventions. The complex is built with the message of eating properly, educating sincerely and entertaining sensibly,” he said.
