Ludhiana: A spat over a pet dog defecating snowballed into violence when a man and his accomplices opened fire at his neighbours outside his house in Sector 32 on Friday morning.
On Friday night, the victim had an argument with the father of the main accused on the issue but the matter was resolved with the intervention of neighbours.
On being informed, division number 7 police reached the spot and recovered two bullet shells.
Police have lodged an attempt to murder case against Vijay Gambhir, his son Siddharth Gambhir, residents of Sector 32-A and their unidentified accomplices.
The complainant, Raman Kapoor, who is into the pharmaceutical business, said that on Thursday, night at around 10pm, his father went for a walk after dinner. Vijay Gambhir was also out for a walk with his wife and a pet.
He said that his pet often defecated outside their house, to which Raman’s father had objected to this several times.
“On Thursday night, my father objected to their pet defecating near the house, following which they started abusing. I was in the house and rushed out on hearing the commotion. I intervened and took my father inside the house, asking the accused to leave. They left but the accused threatened us saying that his son would not spare us. At that time I took the threat lightly but in the morning at around 8.30am, Sidhharth and his four unidentified accomplices came outside our house. They started hurling abuses at us and smashed the windows of the house. When I stepped out of the house, Sidhharth opened fire at me, missing me narrowly.”
The complainant added that he filmed the accused and gave the video to the police. Inspector Davinder Sharma, SHO, division number 7 police station said the police have recovered two bullet shells and registered an FIR under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code against the accused.
A search is on for the accused.
