MUMBAI: The Air Intelligence unit (AIU) of Customs which had detained a Geneva man on suspicion that he was carrying drugs in his body, on Friday booked him under the NDPS act after 1.3kg cocaine worth Rs5 crore was recovered from his body. Accused Raymond Aane Kyermeteng was produced before the local court which remanded him to judicial custody.
At JJ hospital where he was sent for X- ray, he purged 70 capsules containing a white crystalline powder purported to be cocaine. "On weighing, 1,302 grams of pure cocaine worth around Rs 5 crore was removed from his body. He told us that he was from a poor family but during scrutiny it transpired that he had visited India thrice in the last few years and we suspect that it was to smuggle drugs for money," an official said.
