As San Antonio heads into the Labor Day Weekend, the National Weather Services says the area will see heavy rainfall and potential flooding as rain chances increase for Monday, September 5.
The NWS’ seven-day forecast shows an increased chance for rain and thunderstorms from 70% to 80% on Labor Day.
There is a 20% chance for rain on Friday, September 2, starting later this afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m. That chance will jump to 30% after 4 p.m. to finish out the day.
Throughout Saturday, September 3, thunderstorm chances will increase to 70% after 1 p.m., according to NWS.
San Antonio can expect rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch and even higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Chances for rain and thunderstorms will hang around 60% to 50% Saturday night and into Sunday, September 4, before jumping up to 80% on Labor Day where thunderstorms are expected in early morning followed by showers through the rest of the day. NWS says to anticipate the skies to be mostly cloudy throughout the rest of the weekend.
The hazardous weather outlook hasn’t changed from yesterday, with the NWS still expecting heavy rainfall that leads to localized flooding.
The anticipated high temperature for Friday is 94 degrees but those temperatures are expected to drop on Saturday and stay around 88 degrees throughout the rest of the weekend.
The expected lows throughout the rest of the weekend will range between 74 and 72 degrees. Despite the drop in temperatures, San Antonio is expected to have the warmest summer on record this year.
