COIMBATORE: Chief minister M K
Stalin said that 'there were a lot of issues in the report of Justice Arumugasamy commission' constituted to probe into the circumstances surrounding the death of late chief minister
J Jayalalithaa.
"I cannot reveal them now. The report would be tabled in the assembly and made public," chief minister M K Stalin said while speaking at the wedding of former minister Pongalur Palaniswami's granddaughter in the city on Thursday. However, Stalin did not elaborate if there were a lot of issues highlighted by the report or if there were issues in the report itself.
Stalin alleged that former chief minister Edappadi K Palansiwami had constituted the commission as just an eyewash to placate O Panneerselvam who rebelled against AIADMK leadership then.
Recalling his assurance that a proper probe would be conducted once DMK comes to power, Stalin said accordingly the commission completed the probe and submitted the report after a prolonged delay. He said the report would be tabled and the assembly would decide on the action to be taken based on the report.
Similarly, the report on the Tuticorin police firing would also be discussed in the assembly and appropriate action would be taken, he said.
Stalin assured to act based on the reports as promised during the run-up to the assembly election.
"I want to reiterate that these were also our election promises and we are fulfilling all our poll promises," he said.
Stalin said there were questions being asked about the rollout of 1,000 monthly dole for housewives. "We have fixed the state's fiscal discipline to some extent. We would set the finances right fully and give the dole,'' he said.
