Mysuru: JD(S) and BJP leaders held separate meetings with their corporators on Thursday to finalise the party strategies for the September 6 mayoral polls.
The corporators of both the parties are demanding the mayor’s post which is reserved for the general category.
“Like the previous term, our corporators demanded mayor post for the party. I will communicate the same to the party state leaders,” explained BJP city district unit president TS Shrivatsa.
“We will abide by the decision taken by the party state leaders. Our decision will be communicated on Saturday,” he said.
Meanwhile, JD(S) leader, and former minister SR Mahesh also held a meeting with the party corporators. In the meeting it was decided to abide by former CM HD Kumaraswamy’s decision.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Mahesh stated that BJP should support the party candidate to get mayor post. Last time, we helped BJP to get mayor post. If BJP doesn’t support us, we will not support Congress and will sit in opposition. But this will help Congress, he warned.
If BJP extends support for mayor post, we will support BJP candidate for deputy mayor post, he said.
