Evening rain brings city to standstill

Coimbatore: A few hours of downpour on Thursday evening brought the city’s traffic to a standstill as arterial roads, underpasses and busy commercial areas were flooded.
Traffic movement through major underpasses at Lanka Corner, Kikaki School, North Coimbatore and Avinashi flyover were affected due to the rain. The sudden downpour also caused traffic snarls at Lakshmi Mills Junction, Ukkadam, Athupalam and other places where flyover projects are under way. The corporation deployed men and machines to unclog stormwater channels.TNN
