1,252 youths attend first Agnipath recruitment in Haveri

HAVERI: The first Agnipath recruitment drive started for the first time in the district on Thursday.
As many as 1,252 candidates took part in the first day of the drive at Hosamani Siddappa District Stadium. All the aspirants were from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts and 1,857 candidates had registered.
Among them, 104 qualified in running on the first day. The medical test will be done on Friday for eligible candidates. On Friday, as many as 2,538 candidates from Dharwad district may attend the test which begins at 4am.
The district administration and police have arranged all the required facilities for the candidates as well as the army recruitment authorities. The administration has allotted nine wedding halls as accommodation for the candidates.
"Many organisations have come forward to provide accommodation and food to the candidates who are willing to become Agniveers from Karnataka. We have appointed nodal officers at every wedding hall for helping candidates who have come from far away. I appreciate all the donors and volunteers who are serving this mega Agnipath army recruitment rally," said deputy commissioner Sanjay Shettennavar.
