Gurgaon: Residents of Greenwood City on Thursday met the MCG commissioner and submitted a five-point agenda that they want the civic body to take up on priority.
Their demand charter highlights problems of water scarcity, non-functional streetlights, old sewerage network and poor condition of roads.
“We have submitted a letter to the MCG commissioner highlighting the problems of Greenwood City that should be given priority, now that the civic body has taken over the colony from the developer. Water shortage is a big problem in A, B and C blocks of the colony,” said Vineeta Khosla, RWA president of B and C blocks.
An MCG team visited the colony later in the day to take stock of the existing arrangements of water supply.
MCG took over Greenwood City on August 29 after the department of town and country planning issued orders of takeover of nine private colonies on May 9. The developer of Greenwood City will, however, help the civic body in the overall functioning till September 15.
“Our staff has visited the society and examined the existing machinery to understand the system of services given to the residents. The work has not started yet, however it will start soon,” said Vishal Garg, executive engineer, MCG.
The residents said that waterlogging during rains is another major problem that they want the MCG to address. “
Streetlights are also a major problem in the colony since there are a few blocks where streetlights have not been installed and at some places, these lights are not working due to which there are safety concerns,” a resident said.
Officials, however, said that the MCG will soon take a call on the services the colony’s RWAs may continue to provide to the residents, “although the cost will be borne by the civic body”.
