KOTA: A senior citizen couple foiled a robbery attempt in Kota on Thursday late morning. The masked robbers who entered the couple’s house in the city’s Talwandi- sector 1 in the guise of
Covid vaccine surveyor were taken aback with the reaction of their retaliation.
According to police, the masked armed robber fled the scene after being chased out by the elderly man of the house.
Jawahar Nagar SHO Vasudev Singh said, “Police reached the spot on getting the information about the incident. We have collected the CCTV footage from the spot and further investigation into the matter is underway to nab the accused.”
Talking about the incident, Singh said, “In the CCTV footage from the main gate of the house, a masked man wearing a cap is seen entering into the house and a few minutes later he was seen running out of the entrance gate. The old man in the house chased him out.”
Mahesh Sharma, a retired deputy general manager of a factory in Kota, bravely faced the robber and chased him out of his house with alertness and quick thinking.
His wife Hemlata Sharma (58) said, “The robber came to our address and inquired about our personal and Covid vaccine details. As I turned around to my husband for the mobile number, he took out his air pistol and pointed at my husband to raise his hands. He also threatened us. However, my husband showed courage and snatched the robber’s pistol. He got scared and ran away.”
Police had also recovered a register, which the robber may have dropped while escaping. It contained a list of at least 28 houses in the area that he had allegedly surveyed.
