Haryana: Regional Provident Fund Commissioner held for taking Rs 50,000 bribe in Panipat

KARNAL: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday arrested a Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, Panipat (Haryana) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000 from the complainant.
As per the spokesperson of CBI, the accused identified as Amit Nain was demanding the bribe in lieu of de-freezing the accounts of the Complainant’s company (who provides manpower, etc. to various business houses/institutions/offices, etc).
As per the information, the team comprising around 12 members reached the EPFO office in Panipat at noon. The team also searched records of the office.
The spokesperson said that after receiving the complaint, CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000.
He said that searches are being conducted at the residential and official premises of the accused. A case has been registered against the accused under the prevention of corruption Act. The investigation is underway.
