Man dies by suicide

Ludhiana: An elderly person ended his life by hanging from a rope in the well of his fields at Bharthala village in Samrala. Local sources said daughter-in-law of the deceased Surendra Singh, who is 65 years old, was head of the village woman Verka milk society. They added that about Rs 13-14 lakh were embezzled in the society, which was being investigated by the police. Local sources said Surendra Singh was mentally troubled for a long time about this embezzlement case and he told some people of the village many times that his family has nothing to do with this embezzlement. tnn
