A video went viral showing a man hitting and pushing a woman in Kamathipura, Mumbai on Aug 28, allegedly over installing a bamboo stick (for an ad) in front of the woman's shop without consent. A non-cognizable offence was lodged at Nagpada PS.
As per the report by NDTV, the woman, Prakash Devi, had objected to a pole being installed for publicity boards by the MNS men, led by Vinod Argile. Prakash Devi had asked MNS people to not install publicity boards in front of her medicine shop. She also claimed that she was not only physically assaulted, but the MNS men threw abuses at her.
It is shocking to note that in city like Mumbai, dozens of people stood like mute spectators, with none of them trying to intervene to stop the goon's physical and his accomplice's verbal attack on a woman in broad daylight. Bystanders and onlookers continued to take videos and did not dare to confront him even as the woman bravely tried to defend her stance.
It is being alleged that the man seen in the video is a leader of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).
Meanwhile, the party has said that it is not supporting the goon and the incident. "Our senior leaders will take action against it. But the video being shown is incomplete," Keshav Mule, MNS, Mumbadevi Ward Chief said.
