Ludhiana: Single window system for real estate sector soon, says Aman Arora

AAP govt will weed out illegal colonies, said minister Arora
LUDHIANA: Housing and urban development minister Aman Arora on Wednesday met realty developers, dealers and others associated with the real estate business at Bachat Bhawan in Ludhiana. During the meeting in which several senior officials and MLAs were also present, Arora said Punjab goverment will soon bring single window system for real estate sector to obtain necessary permissions and also said illegal colonies will soon become thing of past in Punjab. He also assured that approved colonies will be facilitated as well as promoted by the government.
“Thousands of unapproved colonies have mushroomed under the patronage of previous governments in the state. A mess had been created by previous governments and unauthorised urban development caused huge loss to state exchequer. Our government is working to sort out all issues and a new policy will be unveiled in September in this regard to ensure smooth and hassle free urban development. Whatever had happened, government will take action against malpractices and not a single illegal colony will come up from now on in Punjab. Our government will soon bring out a single window system for real estate sector, this system would deliver all mandatory permissions under one-roof thus ensuring speedy urban development.”
Arora also said government was making efforts to ensure balanced growth of urban areas by ensuring effective mechanism. He also directed the GLADA officials to carry out a detailed survey of all areas under their jurisdiction and carry out comprehensive development works, with focus on enhancing green cover. He also asked them to chalk out a strategy under which maximum funds are spent on infrastructure in approved residential colonies and industrial estates. He directed them to find suitable places where new urban and industrial estates can be developed.
The minister also asked officers not to keep the funds stocked in the bank accounts of departments for the sake of earning interest and asked them to use the money for development works in a planned manner for the benefit the residents of approved colonies. He also assessed the progress of various projects being implemented by GLADA, including Government Senior Secondary School, community club, 100 feet road, special park, construction of minor bridge, recarpeting of Chandigarh Road and sewerage works.
Arora also assured representatives of various residential welfare associations to give priority to solve the issues being faced by public, including carpeting of new roads, removal of encroachments, safer environment, smooth flow of traffic and enhancing green cover.
