OPS supporter arrested for issuing threat to R B Udhayakumar

CHENNAI: An AIADMK member and supporter of party coordinator O Panneerselvam was arrested on Wednesday by Ayyapuram police in Tenkasi district for issuing a death threat to former minister R B Udhayakumar. He has been remanded in judicial custody.
In an audio that was circulated in the social media, Saravanapandian, 37, of Mahendravadi near Sankarankoil is heard asking Udhayakumar to come ready for his own funeral. Udhayakumar has been showing his enmity towards OPS by issuing frequent statements and holding press meets, after the high court ruled in favour of OPS.
When the general council of the AIADMK met on July 11, Udhayakumar was appointed deputy leader of the opposition, a post that was previously held by OPS. It was undone by the court, which ordered status quo.
Udhayakumar had recently said he would commit suicide if OPS took charge of the AIADMK.
The case against Saravanapandian was registered based on a complaint from Sankarankoil north AIADMK secretary Maharajan.
