‘BJP spreading communal disharmony over Dumka case’

Ranchi: JMM on Wednesday criticised the BJP for politicking over the recent incident in Dumka, where a minor girl died after being set afire by her jilted lover, and claimed that the saffron party was constantly trying to spread communal discord in the society.
Lashing out at BJP leaders Kapil Mishra and Nishikant Dubey, who visited the girl’s family members earlier in the day, JMM spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya said the state government was a firm believer in democracy and hence did not put a ban on anyone’s travel. “Had this been Uttar Pradesh, they would not have been allowed to enter,” he added.
“We condemn the statements made by former chief ministers Raghubar Das and Babulal Marandi. We want to remind Das of an incident in December 2016, when an engineering student from Silli was raped and set ablaze at Booty Basti on the outskirts of the state capital. We, (then in the opposition), did not link the incident to BJP despite the fact that the victim was enrolled in a college run by one of the party leaders,” Bhattacharya said.
