Man gets 10 yrs’ RI for sexually exploiting girl

Ranchi: The POCSO court of Ranchi on Tuesday sentenced a man named Syed Nadeem to 10-year rigorous imprisonment for sexual exploitation of a girl under the Kanke police station area limits a year ago.
Additional public prosecutor Mohan Rajak said that the court sentenced Nadeem under section 376 (2) (n) and section 376 (1) of Indian Penal Code.
He added that a fine of Rs 10,000 each was imposed under both the sections with the provision that the culprit would undergo additional term of six months for default in payment of the fines.
Notably, the convict sexually exploited the girl on the pretext of marrying her. The case was registered with police station in January 2021 when Nadeem refused to keep his promise.
During the trial before the POCSO court, however, the girl could not be proved as a minor.
