Mysuru: Rangayana director Addanda C Cariappa mocked opposition leader Siddaramaiah after the Madikeri Chalo agitation in protest against hurling of eggs on the former chief minister’s car on August 18 was cancelled.
In a video statement that went viral on Tuesday, he called Siddaramiah a coward. “We Kodavas have defeated Mysuru ruler Tipu Sultan 32 times. If his younger brother Siddaramaiah visits Kodagu, we will defeat him too,” he stated.
Questioning Siddaramaiah over cancelling the Madikeri Chalo planned on August 26 in the wake of prohibitory orders clamped by Kodagu district administration, Cariappa accused the former CM of violating the prohibitory orders many times in his political career. “He had protested in support of AICC top brass Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi against ED questioning. But he feared Section 144 in Kodagu,” he said.
When contacted, Cariappa said there was no political reason behind his statements. “His constant attack on Hindu Mahasabha leader Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and RSS has hurt me. For me, my nation comes first. That is why I criticised him,” he told TOI.
“For Siddaramaiah, vote bank politics is important. He is ready to sacrifice any values of our society for the sake of votes,” he alleged.
