KOLKATA: Trinamool MP
Abhishek Banerjee and his sister-in-law received fresh summons from the Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday to appear for questioning in a money laundering case related to an account under probe in the coal mining scam. The summons reached Abhishek a day after Bengal CM
Mamata Banerjee said central agencies might call him for questioning again, "given the success of the Trinamool Chhatra Parishad rally" in Kolkata on Monday.
"Abhishek has delivered a powerful speech. They (central agencies) may send a notice to him soon. They did not spare his wife. They will not even hesitate to serve a notice on their two-year child," Mamata said.
The ED asked Abhishek to appear at its Kolkata office on Friday and his wife's sister, Menaka Gambhir, in Delhi on September 5. By Tuesday afternoon, it appeared that Gambhir would not have to travel to Delhi. She filed a plea in the Calcutta HC, based on which Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya passed an order asking agency to question her in the city.
