Police bill Edifice 64L for services, co says not aware

Noida: Police said on Tuesday Edifice Engineering, the company that brought down the twin towers, has to pay them Rs 64 lakh for the services offered during the demolition and in the run-up to it. The company, however, said it had no information about the bill yet.
Over the past few weeks, several teams of police had cordoned off the demolition site and provided security to ensure only authorised personnel were being allowed inside the towers that were being charged then. They also escorted the vans that brought in the explosives from Palwal in Haryana, around 100km away.
Ram Badan Singh, the DCP (headquarters), told TOI that the company would have to pay Rs 64 lakh to the police. “Our officers are in touch with the Edifice team about this. There is no timeline for clearing the dues, but we hope it will be done at the earliest,” he said.
Asked about the Rs 64 lakh, Edifice officials declined any knowledge about it.
Cops, however, will continue to remain deployed at the demolition site for a few more weeks.
“Several people, many of them residents from the neighbourhood, have been visiting the site to take pictures and make videos. However, officials of the demolition firm and other experts involved have to first rummage through the debris to check for any explosive that may not have gone off. Although the chances of such explosives going off are negligible, we still have to take precaution and barricade the area,” said Rajesh S, the deputy commissioner of police (central Noida) and the incident commander for the demolition.
The senior officer said around 20 cops would remain stationed on the small stretch outside Emerald Court.
