Mangaluru: District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (Disha) member V Krishnappa Poojary Kalladka has called upon people to attend in large numbers the programme of Prime Minister
Narendra Modi on September 2.
He told reporters here on Tuesday that the central government has sanctioned several projects after Nalin Kumar Kateel became the MP of Dakshina Kannada. While projects to the tune of Rs 4,000 crore were sanctioned between 2009 and 2014, sanctions worth Rs 16,520 crore were released from 2014 to 2019. Similarly, Rs 3,000 was released for the Mangaluru-Kochi gas pipeline project and Rs 296 crore for the development of Mangaluru International Airport (MIA), he said.
“The MP had turned his office into a Covid-19 war room and helped people in need. Various new projects, including a Coast Guard Academy, Plastic Park, Smart City and development works through Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (Amrut) schemes were sanctioned during his tenure,” he said.
To a query on various allegations against the MP, Kalladka said that those who are levelling allegations against the
BJP state president are not BJP members. “It was not BJP workers who had gheraoed Kateel’s car during the funeral procession BJP leader Praveen Nettaru, who was murdered recently. The BJP workers do not have any displeasure at the functioning of Kateel,” he asserted.
On the pathetic condition of Mangaluru-Bengaluru NH-75 stretch, he said: “People are now inconvenienced due to the ongoing development works on the stretch. The issue will be solved within three to four months.”
Disha members Jayashri Kulal, Ramdas Haradi, Raghurama Mugera and BJP OBC Morcha district general secretary Monappa Devasya were present. tnn
