Actor Kamal R Khan arrested by Mumbai Police over controversial tweets in 2020

MUMBAI: Mumbai Police on Tuesday arrested actor, producer, and self-proclaimed film critic Kamaal R Khan in connection with a case registered against him in 2020 for derogatory tweets.
Khan was picked up by Malad police after he landed at the Mumbai airport.
He will be produced before a magistrate court on Tuesday.
Back in 2020, Shiv Sena member Rahul Kanal had pressed charges against Khan. Kanal had said that Khan had been making distasteful statements against certain Bollywood actors on Twitter.
In his review of an upcoming film, Khan allegedly made remarks intended to spread hatred among communities.
Khan was out of the country for a long period due to which a lookout notice was issued against him, police said.
As soon as he landed at the Mumbai airport, the airport authorities informed the Malad police.
