Two killed in separate accidents

Mangaluru: A student died in a bike accident reported in Punjalkatte police limits on Monday. The deceased is Mohammed Shafiq, a second year undergraduate student from a private college in the city.
According to police, the accident took place around 8.30am when Shafiq was riding a bike from Madantyar to Mangaluru. When he was attempting to overtake a bus near Basavanagudi post office in Punjalkatte, he reportedly hit a bike coming from the opposite direction. A case has been registered at Punjalkatte police station.
3 bring explosives to hunt, nabbed
Police have arrested three persons for possessing explosives to hunt animals, on government property, at a village in Bantwal in Vittal police limits. The accused are Sharath, Prashanth and Sunil Poojary. According to a complaint filed by Bantwal Range Forest Officer Rajesh Baligar, on information from locals that three persons had arrived with an intention to hunt animals on Friday. TNN
