4 of family attempt suicide in Valsad

Surat: Four members of a family were admitted to Valsad civil hospital on Monday after they were found unconscious at their home in Mograwadi area. They had consumed sleeping pills on Sunday night.
Preliminary police investigation revealed that the four took the extreme step due to financial crisis and they were unable to meet daily expenses. Police said each member had consumed 10 pills.
Neighbours found the four unconscious on Monday. They called an ambulance and shifted them to hospital. The four were identified as Mukesh Mehta (62), his wife Mina (59), daughter Tina (40) and son Prathmesh (32). Their condition of the four was declared out of danger by doctors.
Prathmesh is unemployed while Mukesh is not able to work because of his age. “Mina is ill and the family had kept the sleeping pills for her at home. They are yet to be questioned in detail but preliminary questioning revealed that they did not have money even to meet their daily expenses,” said a police officer.
Police said will question the family once they regain consciousness. They will also find out if any of the family had borrowed money from any bank or private financier.
