SC refuses to pass order on intrusive apps revealing information

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday refused to entertain PIL seeking its interference to restrain mobile apps like Truecaller not to reveal information, including names of people and address without their approval.
A bench of Chief Justice UU Lalit and Justice S Ravindra Bhat observed that there were hundreds of such mobile apps which are intrusive but it was not the duty of the court to deal with them.
"Hundreds of apps are there which are intrusive. Are we going to close those apps? Is it the job of the court? Not a fit case to entertain," the bench said.
