Gujarat: Valsad singer was strangled, say police

SURAT: Even as police are looking for leads in the murder of Vaishali Balsara, the 30-year-old singer from Valsad, preliminary postmortem revealed that she was strangulated.
“Postmortem report has suggested strangulation but how she was strangled is not known since there were no marks. We are awaiting a report from the Forensic Science Laboratory to confirm a few other details useful for investigation,” said a police officer at Pardi police station.
Balsara’s body was found in her car on Sunday morning near Par river and her phone has been missing since then. She had left home on Saturday evening informing her husband Hitesh that she would return in some time.
Sources said that Balsara had gone to collect cash from a friend but it’s unclear why she went to Pardi, around 12 km away from Valsad. A mother of two daughters, Balsara was a singer while her husband is a musician. The family did not name anyone as suspect.
