Gurgaon: The enforcement teams of
MCG razed seven illegal shops constructed on the civic body’s land in Carterpuri on Monday. An MCG official said despite serving notices several times, the shops were not removed, following which the civic body demolished the illegal structures.
“When we reached Carterpuri to clear unauthorised construction, owners of these unauthorised shops tried to mislead us, saying there is a stay order on demolition of these shops. It took us two hours to verify their claims. Later, we found there is no such stay order. The demolition was carried out in the presence of police,” said Prem Singh Saini, assistant engineer (enforcement).
MCG commissioner Mukesh Kumar Ahuja said zone-wise teams have been formed to remove encroachments from MCG land and assistant engineers have been made in-charges of each team.
“Assistant engineers have also been given the powers of duty magistrates. The anti-encroachment drive will continue in the areas under MCG jurisdiction," said the commissioner.
The enforcement teams of all zones have been carrying out demolition drives for some days now. Earlier this month, the MCG enforcement team carried out a demolition drive in Silokhera and demolished around five buildings. The unauthorised residential structures were built without getting building plans approved.
The MCG official said construction of buildings without building plan approval is demolished as and when they get information about such cases. To get building plans approved, one can apply through registered architects on the Haryana Online Building Plan Approval System (HOBPAS). The officials also said an applicant will get a provisional certificate within 24 hours, after which the construction can be started.
