GURUGRAM: The sisters of one of the earliest gangsters in the city were allegedly thrashed by their brother and other family members over a property dispute in Jharsa on Sunday. A video of the incident captured on a mobile phone from a distance was circulated on social media. Police have filed an FIR and arrested the accused brother and his two sons.
The gangster, Rajje, was active in 1995 when the real estate boom had just begun in Gurgaon, then a satellite town of Delhi with manufacturing units and corporate offices. In 1996, Rajje, who was mostly involved in land-grabbing, was killed by a rival gangster and his wife Sangeeta took over the gang. Sangeeta was also killed in the gang war.
Police said Rajje had several siblings, including sisters Indri and Savita, and brothers Pratap and Rajesh. The two sisters had gone to meet Rajesh, who is ailing, in Jharsa when they were allegedly attacked by Pratap and his sons Bunty and Bittu on Sunday. The sisters told police that the men tried to kill them over a property dispute, but they managed to escape with injuries.
A video of the alleged attack went viral on social media on Monday, in which the women can be seen dragged by their hair, pushed to the ground and beaten up with a stick and bricks by Pratap. An FIR was registered at Sadar police station on Monday under sections 323 (causing hurt), 354A (sexual harassment), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code against Pratap, Bunty and Bittu.
DCP (east) Virender Vij said police registered a case under the relevant sections after receiving a complaint. “All the accused people have been arrested,” the DCP added.
